The SVRI Gender-based violence (GBV) Project

The Centre for Community & Public Health Improvement (CPHI)-Sierra Leone, in collaboration with the Institute of Gender Research and Documentation (INGRADOC) at Fourah Bay College, is conducting the first reliable study on the extent of gender-based violence among students at the country’s largest university.

This research project will analyse the prevalence and drivers of gender-based violence across different disciplines, with a particular focus on STEM, and examine what factors make some students more vulnerable than others. The results will lead to practical recommendations to inform university policy and programmes, aiming to build a replicable framework across West African higher education institutions.
